An Identifiable feature:
The above photos show the typical identifiable feature that can be found on most Forestex siding
Below is the same feature on tri lap Forestex.
The lap widths are usually 3.6 inches in a trip lap therefore cannot hold the entire pattern as seen in the single lap.
Below is a photo from a homeowner trying to ID his siding The pattern below looks like the pattern above but without that identifiable feature.
Could the above photo also be Stimson Forestex?
However, it looks just like the LP pattern below:

Obviously, the above photo is LP The LP knot is in the lower right corner.

There are also bi lap, tri lap, and 4 lap panels. The identifiable knot is not as pronounced and may not be found on these.

The typical problem is bowing due to water absorption.
